Promoting Employment and Decent Work in Afghanistan through the Humanitarian-Development-Peace nexus, MPTF id 00129786
The ILO programme Promoting employment and decent work in Afghanistan through the humanitarian-development-peace nexus responds to the priority indicated by the UN partners and the international community dictated by the current circumstances in Afghanistan and is centred around the need to create immediate decent jobs opportunities. The Employment Intensive Investment Programme (EIIP) component will provide immediate decent jobs to men and women from families affected by the crisis through the development and maintenance of priority infrastructure. Infrastructure measures will be complemented by trainings on local resource-based approaches and principles of decent work for contractors and capacity building for partners. Complementary activities to address the needs of Afghan communities will be considered, such as skills training, enterprise development and employment services, providing workers and families with longer term prospects.
