Conflict perspective and humanitarian, peace and development nexus

The approach for this renewed Sida-ILO partnership will build on results and lessons learned of earlier phases and other ongoing ILO efforts on research, capacity building and awareness raising. The Sida-ILO partnership has been instrumental in advancing ILO’s mandate on gender equality and non-discrimination at work by promoting the goals of decent work and women’s economic empowerment. At the global level, it has been contributing to developing action-oriented knowledge, practical tools and capacity development on issues pertaining to care work, pay equity and violence and harassment. At country level, Sida funding has been instrumental to capacitate constituents to deliver care services, reduce women’s unpaid care work, transition to the formal economy, increase women’s wages and prevent and protect workers from violence and harassment. As an element of innovation, this area intends to synergize with other cross-cutting areas of work. This proposal will contribute to furthering the ILO’s value add to the Humanitarian Development Peace Nexus, sustaining peace and integrating peace responsiveness into the ILO’s strategy and programming. The program will work at global and country level. At global level ILO capacity to design and monitor, conflict sensitive, peace responsive and disaster resilient employment and decent work policies and initiatives is enhanced by applying strategic approaches and tools expressly developed or adapted for fragile settings. At country level:ILO Constituents are equipped with capacities to support employers and workers in crises settings and take actions to harness stability and build peace and resilience through decent work and inclusive social dialogue to mainstreamed employment and decent in national recovery plans and recovery programmes.
