WE Care Lebanon (RBSA)
This RBSA-funded intervention supports national efforts in strengthening the care economy in Lebanon. It does so by working closely with trade unions, leveraging networks and influence to reach care workers and advocate for their rights in the country. The capacity of trade union leaders and members is strengthened to promote decent work in the care economy with focus on domestic workers who are mostly migrant workers, childcare workers and healthcare workers. Issues of non-discrimination, workplace free from violence and harassment, and representation of women in leadership positions will also be addressed in the capacity building interventions. They are supported to identify priority demands and develop a strategy to improve the working conditions of care workers in Lebanon. They are also supported to spread awareness on the rights of care workers and the importance of recognizing, reducing and redistributing unpaid care work through a social media campaign. The project ultimate goal is to enable the environment for changes in laws and policies as well as attitudes and practices of general public to promote decent work for care workers.
