Just Transition in the Climate Processes: from research to action
In order to tackle pressing environmental challenges like climate change, pollution and plummeting biodiversity, nations and businesses need to transition towards greener, resilient and climate-neutral economies and societies. There are multiple possible pathways in this regard and policy choices and measures will influence the extent and nature of employment and socio-economic impacts as well as the impact on climate and their environment. To deliver ambitious climate action and ensure it leads to job creation and social justice through a human-centred approach, the project will further develop joint policy research, advocacy, new evidence and good practices in support of the development of effective just transition measures which will maximise positive impacts and minimise negative ones, leaving no one behind. This initiative stems from the conclusions of the EU-ILO High-Level Meeting of October 2020, where it was decided that the ILO and the EC would cooperate to joint research and exchange of best practices to promote just transition policies, including within the Climate Action for Jobs Initiative.
