Cultivating a pathway for decent work and the care economy in Jordan
As a follow-up to the conclusions of the General Discussion on Decent Work and the Care Economy at the 2024 International Labour Conference, this intervention contributes to strengthening the capacity of ILO constituents to design and implement measures in the care economy in Jordan. It improves the participation of women in the labour market by addressing issues of gender inequality and insufficient support for the care economy. The intervention targets both policymakers and stakeholders in the care sectors, with women, men, persons with disabilities and the elderly being the ultimate beneficiaries. The collaborating partners include the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Social Development, the Social Security Corporation, the Jordan Chamber of Industry, the General Federation of Independent Trade Unions, the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions, and the National Commission for Women. The expected results include improved capacity of constituents to access care economy knowledge products (including data related to care economy in selected sectors) and their ability to formulate sustainable and evidence-based care economy strategies in line with ILO’s 5R Framework for Decent Care Work and relevant international labour standards.
