Promotion de la SST dans les pays du voisinage méridional pour l’accès des travailleurs en situation vulnérable à un travail sûr et sain Phase 2

In a world of work shaped by new technologies, demographic changes, climate change and different forms of employment and work organization, it is important to anticipate both new and emerging occupational health and safety risks, especially for vulnerable workers. Phase I of the project supported labour inspectorates in three countries of the European Union's southern neighbourhood (Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia) to develop strategic compliance plans aimed at improving the safety and health of workers with a particular focus on the agriculture sector. The project paid specific attention to workers in vulnerable conditions such as women, young workers, workers with disabilities, informal workers or migrant workers. Phase II of the project build on milestones achieved under phase I to further improve the safety and health of workers, particularly those in vulnerable conditions, in four countries of the European Union's southern neighbourhood (Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, and Egypt). It do so through 1) the strengthening of labour inspection systems to enforce and promote occupational safety and health with a focus on the agriculture and construction sectors; 2) the improvement of policy and legal frameworks on occupational safety and health and their alignment with International Labour Standards; and 3) exchanges of knowledge and good practices at sub-regional level. The project is integrated into the Employment and Labour Roadmap of the Union for the Mediterranean 2022-2025 and implemented in the framework of the ILO Flagship Programme on OSH Safety + Health for All.
