Promoting Employment and Employability among Refugees, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Host Communities focusing on Women, PWDs, and Youths in Northern Iraq.
The current state of affairs underscores the necessity for a more strategic and coherent approach to address the multifaceted challenges faced by refugees, and young women and men in the host communities in the selected targeted governorates of Northen Iraq including Kurdistan Region of Iraq (Ninawa, Duhok, Erbil, and Sulaymaniyah) with a special focus on those experiencing intersectional vulnerabilities in entering employment and labour market. Against these backdrops, the ILO in partnership with GIZ aimed to implement a project entitled “Promoting Employment and Employability among Refugees, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Host Communities focusing on Women, PWDs, and Youths in Northern Iraq” with the overarching objective to support transition of refugees, internally displaced persons, and host communities focusing on youth and women into decent jobs. This is achieved through the intermediate objective of improving the evidence-base for stronger capacities of national stakeholders and policy dialogue, strengthening employment services, technical and business management skills development, financial inclusion and enhancing opportunities for work-based learning.
