Fast-tracking the expansion of social protection and decent jobs for just transitions during a first implementation period of the Global Accelerator
The project, implemented through the Technical Support Facility (TSF) of the Global Accelerator (GA) supports pathfinder countries in the development, adoption, and implementation of coherent, prioritized acceleration agendas on social protection, skills development and decent employment, while facilitating global partnerships and international financing and consolidating global knowledge. By developing and disseminating across all pathfinder countries a coherent framework for action, supporting the consolidation of results, making available tailor-made tools and expertise, and sharing good practices and learning across countries, the project promotes a coherent approach to the GA and the Multistakeholder Engagement to implement the Global Accelerator on Jobs and Social Protection for Just Transitions and the World Bank Social Protection and Jobs Compass (M-GA) and collaboration between the UN and the International Financial Institutions, supporting breaking policy silos, and maximizing synergies for transformative change with sustainable impact on poverty reduction, decent job creation, social protection, and formalization, to leave no one behind. To fast-track national results through the three key GA pillars (integrated national strategies and policies, integrated financing and enhanced multilateral cooperation) varies across countries, and the role of the project is to provide catalytic and integrated technical support and facilitate real-time learning across countries and interventions in complement to the support already provided at country level by UN Joint Programmes. The project develops common processes, methodologies, and tools, and offer expertise and capacity building that support the GA. The project supports UN Country Teams in collaboration with national governments on strengthening political and financial sustainability of social protection systems and decent employment. It also contributes to increasing the capacities of national counterparts to steer the policy changes and transitions on the ground (through a Hub of expertise, methodologies and tools, capacity building). The project also builds operational partnerships at global and regional levels with the World Bank, the Finance in Common Coalition for social investment, with the private sector, global funds, and facilitates connections between their investment agendas and the GA and M-GA at country level. The development of a common results framework, consolidation of results and research and evidence agenda, allows the project to consolidate the results and impact achieved, as well as through other complementary country policy interventions and investment projects, and build a common narrative on the GA’s and M-GA’s transformative action.
