Strengthening Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and trade readiness in Thailand

This project supports the commitment of Thailand’s constituents to ratify the fundamental Conventions on freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining (Convention No. 87 and Convention No. 98). The project also supports the ratification and application of the Occupational Safety and Health Convention,1981 (No.155) which, together with the Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health Convention, 2006 (No.187), is key to giving effect to the fundamental right to a safe and healthy working environment, by strengthening the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) system at the national and workplace levels as well as regional and sectoral, addressing traditional and emerging risk factors including psychosocial hazards. This includes assisting the ILO constituents and stakeholders in implementing the National OSH Master Plan. During its implementation, the project secures the effective consultation of social partners on all International Labour Standards (ILS) matters, through the application of the Tripartite Consultation (ILS) Convention, 1976 (No. 144) and impactful application of the Conventions for the effective abolition of child labour (Nos 138 and 182).
