Response to the crisis caused by the war in Ukraine – Rapid intervention to reskill and upskill women and vulnerable groups to create access to employment

This intervention addresses critical employment challenges caused by the ongoing war in Ukraine, targeting specifically women and vulnerable groups, including internally displaced persons (IDPs), war veterans, and persons with disabilities in the Kyiv region. Utilizing the ILO’s Local Employment Partnership (LEP) approach, the intervention aims to enhance employment opportunities through tailored skills training, support for entrepreneurship, and improved employment services. It is implemented in close collaboration with national and local government bodies, the State Employment Service, employers’ and workers’ organizations, training providers, as well as in coordination with international agencies such as UN Women, IOM, and UNHCR. The expected results include enhanced capacities of regional stakeholders to implement inclusive labour market policies effectively, successful integration of around 1,000 beneficiaries (with at least 70% being women) into employment through targeted training, skills matching, and entrepreneurship support, and strengthened training institutions capable of providing relevant and demand-driven skills development. Ultimately, this initiative significantly contributes to building economic resilience, social cohesion, and sustainable recovery, laying a foundation for inclusive and decent employment essential for Ukraine`s recovery.
