ILO/IFC Better Work Academy for IFC Environmental and Social (E&S) Specialists

This project strengthens the longstanding partnership between the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) by enhancing IFC’s capacity to address labour and working condition issues across its investment portfolio. Central to this effort is the expansion of the ILO/IFC Better Work programme, which has successfully improved labour standards in the global garment industry and is now being scaled to other sectors. The project delivers a structured learning program through the Better Work Academy, targeting IFC’s Environmental and Social (E&S) staff and relevant teams. Key components include foundational training on international labour standards, practical tools for labour risk assessment, and peer-to-peer learning to support robust due diligence under IFC’s Performance Standard 2. By equipping IFC teams with the knowledge and skills to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders on labour rights, this initiative seeks to promote decent work, social dialogue, and improved job quality across IFC-supported projects.
