Accelerate the Action for the Elimination of Child Labour and Improving Compliance in Tomato Supply Chain in Egypt (ACCEL Egypt)
The project is focused on assessing the social and environmental compliance in Kraft Heinz Tomato Agriculture Supply Chain in Egypt. The assessment considers Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (FPRW) including child labour, forced labour, equality and non-discrimination, freedom of association and occupational safety and health. In addition, compensation, payment practices, overtime, access to grievance mechanisms and fair recruitment. Based on the assessment findings, a remediation action plan is drafted for tomato supply chain in Egypt focusing on promoting compliance across the agricultural informal tier of the supply chain, with a special focus on eliminating child labour, improving working conditions and empowering families both economically and socially. The project complements the expansion of existing efforts conducted under the ILO Cairo Office to combat child labour by applying the ILO integrated FPRW approach, together with other ongoing projects, to support the implementation of the National Action Plan for Combating Child Labour and Supporting Families in Egypt.
