Setting Adequate Wages: a focus on the banana sector
The project "Setting Adequate-Wages: a focus on the banana sector" supports wage-setting processes to promote wages that ensure a decent standard of living for workers and their families in the banana sector in Costa Rica and Colombia, while ensuring the sustainability of the enterprises that employ those workers. It reinforces the capacity of social partners in the banana sector in Costa Rica and Colombia by making use of information, including indicators of the needs of workers and their family and economic factors, for meaningful and informed participation in wage-setting processes. The project also raises awareness on living wages, providing technical assistance to ILO constituents in this regard, and engages with existing living wage initiatives in the banana sector in Costa Rica and Colombia to promote their alignment with ILO living wage principles. This project complements and builds synergies with two existing ILO projects, "Setting adequate wages" in Costa Rica and "Setting adequate wages - a focus on agriculture" in Colombia.
