STREAM EU - Extending social protection to migrant workers and their families in the Arab Gulf countries_old
The Program is expected to build alliances and leverage the European Union influence in the region, in strong consonance with the objectives of the strategic partnership of the European Union (EU) with the Gulf. STREAM-European Union (EU) becomes a portal for the Gulf countries to the European experience to expand their knowledge and tailor their reforms in reference to the delicate balance between affordability, adequacy, and sustainability of social security systems in Europe. It is in turn essential for STREAM-European Union (EU) to mainstream the European experience in confronting the abovementioned past, present and future social security challenges which enable the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) governments, employers and workers to better design policy solutions and effective implementation of their social security systems. To reach this goal, the Program is structured around the attainment of four main outcomes: Outcome 1 - Policy and regulatory reforms for migrant inclusive and gender sensitive social protection systems across the South-Asian-Gulf corridor are adopted. Outcome 2 - Effective and inclusive access to existing and new social protection provisions is enhanced for women and men migrant workers. Outcome 3 - Dialogue and coordination between Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and South Asian countries on the social protection for migrant workers is strengthened with fair representation of women. Outcome 4 - A new evidence base enhances advocacy capacities for a gender -sensitive social protection for migrant workers across the South-Asian-Gulf corridor.
