Advancing Social Protection and Employment Opportunities in Botswana (M-GA)
The programme Advancing Social Protection and Employment Opportunities in Botswana is a UN joint programme led by Unicef, with ILO and UNDP as other participating UN Agencies as well as the World Bank. The programme enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of social protection and employment systems in Botswana, working closely with three government Ministries responsible for labour, social protection and youth employment, as well as other national partners. The project pillars are (a) Strengthening social protection delivery systems (b) Strengthening social protection and employment spending allocation (c) Fostering an evidence-based ecosystem of initiatives that would enhance economic opportunities for youth and poor, and (d) Enhancing multi-stakeholder coordination on employment and social protection. The joint programme aligns closely with Botswana’s United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework and World Bank Country Partnership Framework priorities on social protection and employment.
