ILO Programme on Living Wages: Proposal to BMZ, with focus on agriculture

Building on the Tripartite agreement reached during the Meeting of experts on wage policies, including living wages, in 2024, and endorsed by the ILO Governing Body at its 350th Session, this project contributes to the ILO Programme on Living Wages. The project rests on two pillars. The first pillar supports the development of living wages estimates in line with ILO principles and the development of a global wage data hub, including also metrics on economic factors. The second pillar supports the operationalization of living wages and engagement with living wage initiatives to promote alignment with ILO living wage principles. This project focuses on agriculture. Since many workers in agriculture do not earn wages but seek to cover their needs by selling goods and services on the market, this project also explores the concept of a living income and engages with living income initiatives.
