Resilient, Inclusive and Sustainable Supply Chains - Phase II (Malaysia)

Funded by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the RISSC-II Malaysia project (Resilient, Inclusive and Sustainable Supply Chains) supports a more resilient, inclusive and sustainable rubber supply chain in Malaysia through improvements to decent work, responsible business conduct and supply chain collaboration. Working with tripartite constituents and leading industry stakeholders, it builds a shared evidence base on labour risks and governance gaps in the rubber supply chain; strengthens practical approaches to labour compliance and sectoral coordination; and promotes workable enterprise models for responsible business conduct, underpinned by -among others- meaningful worker representation and access to remedy. Designed to catalyse and enable long-term industry-led upgrading, the project focuses on co-creating tools and improvement pathways that stakeholders can institutionalize over time. In doing so, it builds the foundations for a more responsible, resilient and market-ready rubber sector, whilst also helping Malaysia deliver on related national policy commitments, especially its new National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights.
