Effect given to the recommendations of the committee and the Governing Body- 18. The Committee last examined this case, in which the complainant organizations alleged that the Ministry of Health had not complied with its collective agreement nor engaged with the Bahamas Nurses Union (BNU) to resolve the matter, at its March 2022 meeting [see 397th Report, paras 55–78]. On that occasion, the Committee took due note of the ongoing negotiations for the conclusion of a new collective agreement between the parties and encouraged them to use this opportunity to resolve the dispute and reach a mutually satisfactory solution.

In its communication dated 16 May 2023, the Government indicates that on 13 January 2023, the BNU and the Ministry of Health and Wellness concluded an industrial agreement covering the period 30 December 2020 to 29 December 2025, which settles the substantive issues that are the subject of the present case. The Committee notes with satisfaction that an agreement was reached between the parties. In the light of this information, the Committee considers this case closed and will not pursue its examination.
