Articles 3, 7 and 8 of the Convention. Implementation of a national policy on vocational rehabilitation and employment of persons with disabilities. The Government indicates in its report received in June 2013 that the National Disability Council monitors government programmes on disability to ensure that they reach the beneficiaries. The Council also analyses the extent of disability in the country and proposes appropriate interventions. The Government adds that guidelines have been drafted to operationalize the National Policy on Disability. Moreover, a national plan of action on disability was being drafted at the time of reporting. The Committee notes the measures undertaken regarding vocational rehabilitation and employment for persons with disabilities listed in the report, such as a special grant used towards income generating activities of persons with disabilities in every district of Uganda. The Committee invites the Government to provide information on the results achieved through the implementation of the National Policy on Disability and the national plan of action on disability. It also requests the Government to include detailed information on the activities of the National Disability Council and other steps taken to ensure that vocational rehabilitation measures are made available to all persons with disabilities and that different services are established to enable persons with disabilities to secure, retain and advance in employment, particularly in rural areas and remote communities. Please provide in this regard information on the application of the Convention in practice, including statistical information disaggregated, as much as possible, by age, sex and nature of the disability, as well as extracts from reports, studies or inquiries on the matters covered by the Convention (Part V of the report form).
