Comments and Observations: | ITF (10 February 2022) Vessel has been arrested by the crew with legal assistance from the ITF. A petition to sell the vessel has been made. Working with the local Mission to Seafarers and SAMSA the ITF has provided funds for provisions and fuel. Between us we are also arranging for the seafarers to be vaccinated
ITF (6 April 2022) The owners have informed us that a replacement crew has been secured, but we are yet to receive any details of when they will arrive. 2AE (3/E on his contract) was repatriated by the ITF as he needed to return home to complete his competency exams.
ITF (22 April 2022) The remaining 6 crew have been repatriated by the ITF. The vessel is currently unmanned in agreement with the South African authorities but remains under arrest to support the crew claim of owed wages.
ITF (14 September 2022) The crew’s wages have been received at the ITF and we have transferred the individual amounts due to each seafarer. The ITF also recovered the costs of the provisions and fuel supplied, and costs towards the legal arrest. The arrest is being lifted and the vessel released.
