Comments and Observations:ITF (2004)
Crew contacted ITF for assistance. Informed the ITF that they were signed off by the shipowner in December 2003. They reported being forcibly removed from the ship although they held contracts running to May 2004. The seafarers were claiming two months wages. Reported that the shipowner had not provided funds since December 2003. Actions undertaken locally - case reported to the Maritime Labour Inspection, and the Labour Court.

Joint letter co-signed by ILO Director general and IMO Secretary General to the Flag State administration, urging them to facilitate the resolution of this case.

Other (2 August 2006)
The ILO has received copy of a letter sent by the Belize Registry to the IMO, whereby INMARBE precises that the vessel's registration with Belize was cancelled on 29th March 2001. This was reiterated in a letter from INMARBE, dated 21 December 2006.
