- Better Work assessments are always unannounced.
During assements, BWJ cannot always interview workers outside factory because time and space limitations. BWJ EAs are always sensitive about where to interview workers and they interview workers where they are least likely to be seen or heard by factory management.
BWJ/ILO, as a part of its sustainability strategy, is increasing its efforts to build the capacity of national stakeholders. In addition to the MoL, BWJ is working closely with the garment-sector union.
- action_plan:
- The Transparency Portal is live and available in English. The Arabic version will be made available at a later date.
BWJ is working with both the MoL and the garment sector trade union to facilitate positive change in the garment sector.

- Consider additional strategies to work toward lower non-compliance rates in the garment sector. To facilitate greater change in the sector consider the following: 1) Fully unannounced assessments with factories; 2) Report more non-compliance cases to the MOL and advocate for a stricter ZT framework for the industry; 3) Advertise the public nondisclosure portal widely and publish in both English and Arabic; and 4) During assessments interview workers outside the factory grounds.
