Volume 1: Consumer Price Indices

Cook Islands (Rarotonga)

Official title

Retail Price Index.

Scope

The index is computed quarterly and relates to employees' households.

Official base

2nd quarter 1967 = 100.

Source of weights

The weights and selected items were derived from a household expenditure survey conducted in May 1967 among an ad hoc selection of employees' households (excluding agricultural workers) in which the head of the family had an average weekly income of between 4 and 20 Pounds at the time of the survey. (Of the 156 budgets analysed, the heads of 99 households received between 4 and 6 Pounds a week).
