Source of weights
The weights and selected items were derived from a household expenditure
survey conducted in Niamey from 15 November to 15 December 1964, by
means of mail questionnaires addressed to a sample of households of
French officials engaged in technical co-operation.

month from five retail stores and four times a month from one market.

Computation
The index is computed according to the Laspeyres formula as a
weighted arithmetic average with fixed base, using weights
