History of the survey

The Mining and Manufacturing Survey was first conducted in 1967 by the Korea Industry Bank. Since 1969, it has been conducted by the National Statistical Office. Additionally, the Industrial Census (including electricity, gas and waterworks sectors) has been conducted every five years since 1955. The 11th Industrial Census was conducted in 1994. The Mining and Manufacturing Survey is conducted every year, except the year of the Industrial Census. Prior to 1993, the Korea Standard Industry Classification (KSIC) was convertible to ISIC-68.
