Employment:

All persons of 15 years and over who, at any time during the reference period, worked for pay or without pay for at least one hour in a family operated enterprise.

It includes:

  1. persons with a job but temporarily absent due to illness or injury, vacation or annual leave, maternity or paternity leave, educational or training leave, absence without leave, labour management dispute, bad weather, mechanical breakdown, etc.;
  2. persons who performed some work for pay or profit during the reference period but were subject to compulsory schooling, retired and receiving a pension, registered as jobseekers at an employment office or receiving unemployment benefits;
  3. full-time and part-time students working full or part time;
  4. paid and unpaid apprentices and trainees;
  5. unpaid family workers at work or temporarily absent from work;
  6. persons engaged in production of goods for their own final uses;
  7. seasonal workers not at work during the off-season.
It excludes members of the armed forces as well as persons on civilian service equivalent to military service and persons doing volunteer community or social service work.

All persons of 15 years and over who did not work or have a job from which they were temporarily absent during the reference week, but were actively looking for work in the four weeks prior to the survey week, and were able and willing to work.
