Employment:

Activity done at least one hour in the reference week by any person (aged 15 years and over) in order to earn or to help in obtaining income/profit or where the person holds a position but was temporarily not at work, for example on leave. This includes also activities done by unpaid family workers in helping their parents to obtain income/profit.

It also includes:

  1. persons with a job but temporarily absent due to illness or injury, maternity or paternity leave, parental leave, educational or training leave, absence without leave, labour management dispute, bad weather, temporary and indefinite lay-off without pay;
  2. full or part-time workers seeking other work during the reference period;
  3. persons who performed some work for pay or profit during the reference week but were subject to compulsory schooling, were registered as job seekers at an employment office; d) full and part-time students working full or part-time; e) unpaid family workers at work during the reference week; f) all members of the armed forces.

Unemployment:

All persons aged 15 years and over without work (did not have any job) during the reference week, who are still looking for a job.
