6.Definition of unemployed persons used for the statistics
(i) Unemployed persons who have worked previously, who have the ability and desire to work and who are seeking work;
(ii) Newcomers to the labour market, who have not worked before, who have the ability and desire to work and who are seeking work;
(iii) Persons already working, but who are looking for a better job, either because their job does not suit them, or does not satisfy them economically or for any other reason.
7.Updating of the registers
The registers are updated monthly.
8.Unemployment rates
Statistics from the registers are used to obtain unemployment rates.
The sources of data on employed persons who are part of the denominator of the unemployment rates are the Labour Force Survey and the Population Census.
Definition of employed persons for this purpose:
Persons who work in an economic activity.
