  • Type of business (industry) of present/previous employer/workplace, with two categories distinguished. Links to ISIC-rev.3 have not been established;
  • Maya languages, with categories distinguished such as: spoken, written, translation;
  • If the person is a minor, the following is registered: number of the birth certificate; number of the family record book; folio; identity document.

    4.Criteria used for inclusion of a person in the registers (R) and/or the statistics of unemployed persons (S):

  • Being without work (R) and (S);
  • Seeking work (R) and (S);
  • Availability for work (R);
  • Age (lower limit: 14 years; no upper age limit) (R);
  • Citizenship (R);
  • Being resident in the country (R);
  • Desired duration of employment and/or number of hours of work sought (R).

    5.Criteria used for exclusion of a person from the registers (R) and/or the statistics of unemployed persons (S):

  • Death (R);
  • Commencement of a (new) job (R);
  • Failure to contact the agency/service (the employment search is kept active for six months, and then becomes inactive; after that, the person has to report to the agency to reactivate the search) (R);
  • Other: lack of identity documents (R).

    6.Definition of unemployed persons used for the statistics

    Persons who have declared that they are without work, who have no income, have completed the request form for a work interview with all the necessary information, have received the appropriate vocational guidance and have presented either an identity card, or a birth certificate, as well as the basic documents requested.

    The registers are updated monthly.

    8.Unemployment rates

    Statistics from the registers are not used to obtain unemployment rates.
