  • Previous registrations with the agency/service.

    4.Criteria used for inclusion of a person in the registers (R) and/or the statistics of unemployed persons (S):

  • Seeking work (R) and (S);
  • Availability for work (R) and (S);
  • Age (lower limit: 15 years; upper limit: 60 years) (R) and (S);
  • Citizenship (must be Guyanese citizen) (R) and (S);
  • Being resident in the country (R) and (S).

    5.Criteria used for exclusion of a person from the registers (R) and/or the statistics of unemployed persons (S):

    Commencement of a (new) job (agency notified by employer) (R) and (S).

    6.Definition of unemployed persons used for the statistics

    A person who is actively seeking employment, cannot find work and is not presently employed in any capacity.

    7.Updating of the registers

    As information is received the individual Card is updated. (As the Agency is in the process of being computerized, such information is now being entered in the computer).

    Statistics from the registers are not used to obtain unemployment rates.
