  • Seeking work (R) and (S);
  • Availability for work (R) and (S);
  • Age (lower limit: 15 years; upper limit: 64 years) (R) and (S);
  • Previously employed (R) and (S).

    5.Criteria used for exclusion of a person from the registers (R) and/or the statistics of unemployed persons (S):

  • Death (R) and (S);
  • Commencement of a (new) job (R) and (S);
  • Studying or undergoing training (except persons undergoing public vocational training) (R) and (S);
  • Failure to contact the agency/service (R) and (S);
  • Refusal of a suitable job offer (R) and (S);
  • Refusal of a suitable training offer (R) and (S);
  • End of entitlement to receive unemployment compensation (normally one year after leaving last job) (R) and (S);
  • Inability to work (R) and (S).

    6.Definition of unemployed persons used for the statistics

    Persons qualifying for benefits: persons who paid an employment insurance contribution for more than six months during a year before leaving their previous job and who are unemployed, and willing and able to work.
