    6.Definition of unemployed persons used for the statistics

    Persons able to work, of working age, who are without work shall be considered as unemployed, provided they are not fulltime students at an educational institution, and on the condition that they have registered with the national labour exchange of their place of residence as persons looking for a job and ready to go into vocational training.

    7.Updating of the registers

    The registers are updated whenever there is a change of data.

    8.Unemployment rates

    Statistics from the registers are used to obtain unemployment rates.

    The source of data on employed persons who are part of the denominator of the unemployment rates is Official Estimates.

    Definition of employed persons for this purpose:

    Employment refers to all persons working in the state sector, cooperatives, private enterprises and the self-employed, including: employees on maternity and child-care leave, military personnel, employees on extended unpaid leave, part-time workers on a full-time equivalent basis, persons outside working age (i.e. 16 - 57.5 for women and 16 - 61.5 for men) who continue to hold paid employment.

    12.Major changes since the start of the statistics

    Major changes in legislation, capacity of the agency and/or administrative procedures took place in 1996, 2000 and 2001. The resulting changes in the statistics have not been estimated.
