Re (a): The age is defined in terms of date of birth.
Re (h): The census also collected information on gross monthly income from work and on bonuses received in the last 12 months.
(a) Economically active population: It comprises all persons aged 15 years and over who, during the reference week, were either employed or unemployed, according to the definitions given below. The definitions cover all members of the armed forces but exclude working students with a part-time job and students seeking work.
(b) Employment: Considered as employed are all persons who stated that they were working during the reference period. The question used to determine whether a person is to be counted as employed was “What was the activity status of the person during the reference week? 1) Working; 2) Looking for work; 3) Other”.
It is reported that the following categories are included:
i) persons doing unpaid work in family firm or business;
ii) persons engaged in the production of primary products for own consumption;
iii) employed persons, temporarily absent from work;
iv) seasonal or occasional workers;
v) conscripts for military/civilian service;
vi) apprentices and trainees.
None of the above categories can be identified separately.
(c) Unemployment: Considered as unemployed are all persons who stated that they were looking for work during the reference period. The question used to determine whether a person is to be counted as unemployed was the same as that indicated under 6 (b) above.
Only employed persons are classified by industry, by occupation and by status in employment.
(a) Industry: Employed persons were asked to specify the name and address of their employer/company, and to state in detail the industry of their employer/company. For coding industry, ten groups from the national classification were used. Links to ISIC-rev.3 have been established at the tabulation category (1-digit) level.
(b) Occupation: Employed persons were asked to state in detail their occupation. For coding occupation, ten groups of the national classification were used. Links to ISCO-88 have been established at the major group (1-digit) level.
(c) Status in employment: Employed persons were asked to specify their status in employment. For coding this variable, the following four groups were used: employer; employee; own account worker; family worker.
(d) Level of education: Based on the question: “Highest level of education attained?”. Twelve groups were used to code the data. No links to the International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED) have been established.
No major difference.
