2. Any person who applies for membership in an association shall undertake, by the fact of becoming a member, to submit to the rules of the association in question and to the decisions and penalties adopted under the said rules. He may withdraw from the association, in conformity with the rules, at any time; any provision in the rules which denies his liberty to do so shall be void.
3. Any person who, for the purpose of compelling a particular individual to join or refrain from joining an association, resorts to violence, molestation or threats, or who causes him to fear the loss of his employment or injury to his person, family or property, shall be punished by imprisonment...and a fine...
4. Any person who, with intent to attack freedom of association, makes the conclusion, the execution of (even with due regard to customary notice) the continuance of a contract of work or service conditional upon the affiliation or non-affiliation of one or more persons to an association, shall be liable to the same penalties.

Art. 9. (1) All Germans shall have the right to form associations and societies.
(2) Associations, the purposes or activities of which conflict with criminal laws or which are directed against the constitutional order or the concept of international understanding, are prohibited.
(3) The right to form associations to safeguard and improve working and economic conditions is guaranteed to everyone and to all trades, occupations and professions. Agreements which restrict or seek to impair this right shall be null and void; [certain other measures for which the Basic Law provides] may not be directed against any industrial conflicts engaged in by associations within the meaning of the first sentence of this paragraph in order to safeguard and improve working and economic conditions.

Sect. 10a. Everyone shall have the right to freedom of association with others. The right to freedom of association shall include the right to found an association, to belong or not to belong to an association and to participate in the activities of an association. The right to form, join and participate in the activities of trade unions and the right to organise for the protection of other interests shall likewise be guaranteed.
More detailed provisions on the exercise of the right to freedom of assembly and the right to freedom of association shall be prescribed by Act of Parliament.
