Purpose of the Act

Section 1

The purpose of this Act is to counteract ethnic discrimination. Ethnic discrimination means that a person or group of persons is treated unfavourably in relation to others or is in any other way subjected to unjust or abusive treatment because of race, colour, national or ethnic origin or religious beliefs. Prohibition of improper special treatment of jobseekers and workers

Section 8

An employer may not, when recruiting, subject jobseekers to improper special treatment by not choosing the jobseekers because of their race, colour, national or ethnic origin or religious beliefs.

Section 9

An employer may not subject workers to improper special treatment because of their race, colour, national or ethnic origin or religious beliefs by:

(1)��������� applying less favourable conditions of employment and other working conditions;

(2)��������� directing or allocating the work so that a worker is clearly treated less favourably; or

(3)��������� terminating, dismissing, laying off or taking any other comparable action against the workers.
