While Australia does not currently have a single national strategy specifically dedicated to youth employment, national goals and objectives to promote youth employment are outlined in the Youth Policy Framework, which supports young people aged 15–24 to develop the knowledge, skills, and capabilities needed for secure employment. Youth employment goals are also embedded across a range of targeted programs and initiatives delivered by the Australian Government, including: • Fee-Free TAFE: Removes financial barriers to vocational training in areas of high demand, with a focus on priority groups including young people. • Australian Apprenticeships Incentive System: Provides financial and non-financial support to young apprentices and their employers, particularly in priority occupations. • Workforce Australia – Transition to Work: A youth-specialist pre-employment and employment service that supports disadvantaged young people aged 15–24 who are at risk of not successfully transitioning from school to work. • Your Career website: A national digital platform offering tailored, evidence-based information on education, training, and career pathways for young people, as well as the parents, teachers, and mentors who support them.

2025: no answer 2024: - Australia's Youth Policy Framework outlines the Government’s commitment to keep listening to young people and explore new channels of engagement. In 2021, the Australian Government held two Youth Roundtables to hear directly from young people about their priorities and the recent impacts of COVID-19 on the lives of young people. - The Australian Youth Affairs Coalition (AYAC) has been engaged (as part of the Youth Advocacy Support Grant Scheme), to provide consultation and information sharing between young people, the youth sector and the Australian Government; provide informed and impartial advice to the Australian Government on issues affecting young people and their futures; and provide input for young people into Government decision making on those issues. - To better enable youth engagement and contributions in policy development, the AYAC have been engaged (as part of the Youth Advocacy Support Grant Scheme), to establish a Young Leaders and Advocates Fellowship (the Fellowship), bringing together a diverse and representative group of young people with lived and learned experience. - This group will be called upon to coordinate and contribute to government decision-making processes on issues affecting young people and their future.
