Timor-Leste faces several challenges in creating sufficient employment opportunities to achieve inclusive growth. Accordingly, the National Employment Strategy (NES) 2017–2030 prioritises the creation of new jobs to reduce unemployment and accommodate the substantial number of young people entering the labour market in the coming years. The strategy also emphasises increasing the number of formal jobs and improving current labour productivity.
