comments:
Stakeholders engagement have affected all project beneficiaries, specifically, the engagement of different stakeholders have increased the inclusion of different target groups in the project beneficiaries. For example, Balkh Chamber of Commerce and Industries have ensured inclusion of small and medium enterprises for the sake of their awareness and capacity building regarding R2J project as well as broader Markets for Poor and Markets Systems Development approaches.
challenges:
Engagements of stakeholders have not been easy for R2J, there are many challenges too. Some of the challenges related to stakeholders engagement included, 1) weak capacity from some stakeholders to engage in the project, 2) political will from some governmental stakeholders to engage in the project activities, and; 3) reluctance by stakeholders whether the project will be beneficial to their institutions.
success:
In general, the engagement of stakeholders was very effective and successful. R2J being open to suggestions and inclusion of voices of different stakeholders have been very effective in engaging stakeholders, and stakeholders felt included that increased their interest in further engagement and owning project interventions and results.
context:
This lesson is drawn from the context of working with stakeholders. R2J engaged the stakeholders very closely in the project planning, assessments and also designing interventions. ILO even engaged staff of key stakeholders in carrying out assessments in areas that were not accessible to ILO staff due to security risks.
description:
Stakeholders Engagement Stakeholders’ engagement at ILO-R2J was very impressive. Stakeholders engagement increased project ownership by different stakeholders, and have also enhanced project results, and increased commitment of stakeholders to the project that will result in future sustainability.
