- comments:
- Difficult to access areas and beneficiaries have been included in the project target groups as a result of working through local implementing partners.
- challenges:
- Convincing private businesses for future incentives from their engagement in the project activities was challenging.
- success:
- Closely working with implementing partners in implementing MSD approach has been effective in convincing them to invest in project activities.
- context:
- ILO can’t directly implement many interventions that require traveling to districts and villages due to insecurity. It therefore involved private firms, and with a promising incentives involved in markets systems development for private businesses, it have increased the interest of private businesses to invest in project interventions. The MSD approach encourages working with market players and it is also the focus of ILO to act as a facilitator in improving how market systems work to reach out to the poor.
- description:
- Working through Implementing Partners
Working through implementing partners increased the geographical reach of project interventions, and have also led to effectiveness and efficiency. R2J have contracted with private firms/companies to implement the interventions, those companies with contextual knowledge and local community buy-in have reached to those areas that were difficult for ILO staff to reach, and understanding about local context for the companies enabled them to implement interventions more effectively and efficiently.
