- challenges:
- The challenge is that it takes quite a sustained effort at the early stages of the programme/project implementation.
- success:
- The positive side is that all partners have a common understanding on gender issues which makes it easier to communicate and to coach.
- context:
- Especially the implementing partners at the national level had not much sustained exposure to gender issues, and the training in an early period enhanced attention for gender issues in later stages.
- description:
- The Lesson Learned is that providing intensive and tailored gender training to implementing partners during the inception period has proven to result in a shared understanding of gender equality and women’s empowerment which is beneficial for the remainder of the project.
- administrative_issues:
- Sustainable resources have to be allocated for such an early gender training in terms of human and financial resources.
