- challenges:
- COVID-19 has brought about a downturn in many sectors of the economy
- success:
- COVID-19 has led to a surge in some parts of the economy including micro-food processing
- context:
- The operational context is changing with the COVID-19 pandemic creating winners and losers. Retail outlets, hotels, restaurants and tourism have lost market access. Logistics have suffered as have export markets. There has been a. drop in demand for courses as the enterprises take a hit. Trainers and other stakeholders noted a growth in small scale food processing industries, online (Facebook) marketing and delivery services. The project is responding by developing modules in Start-Your-Own Food Processing business with content on sourcing inputs (packaging etc.) and Facebook marketing.
- description:
- To ensure that the project facilitates independent training that is marketable, it is important that the project team continue to support the SIYB association to develop new offerings to evolve with a changing operational context.
