- challenges:
- A one year period (starting in the middle of the academic year) was deemed to be insufficient to achieve the project's objectives and outcomes, especially since most activities were focused on changing beliefs, attitudes and behaviours of children and their parents/caregivers, which usually takes substantially more time.
- success:
- N/A
- context:
- The project's short timeframe conflicted with the nature and objectives of the project. One of the main approaches utilized by the project to reduce child labour was working on changing the beliefs, attitudes and behaviours of working children and their parents, which cannot be achieved within a period of less than one year.
- description:
- Changing behaviours and attitudes, or even social mobility, takes place over many years and cannot be done in a short timeframe of one year. Also, any project that seeks to commit children to education has to be at least carried out for one full academic year. Therefore, future projects working on changing beliefs, attitudes and behaviours should avoid working within a limited timeframe, and should span a period longer than one year.
- administrative_issues:
- The duration of the project is limited by donor requirements.
