- OSH Training for SSM. In the Philippines, the project should assist OSHC to develop an OSH training manual and plan that meets the needs and priorities of miners operating in the ASGM sector. This will help medium to high risk establishments such as small-scale mining associations comply with the OSH standards including training for workers, as specified in the IRR of the Act Strengthening Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Standards (RA 1105). The project should also link OSHC to MGB and the LGU database of small-scale mining associations to enable it to develop and fund a training program that fully covers the ASGM industry. The ILO (SECTOR) has been working for the ratification and implementation of C176 - Safety and Health in Mines Convention, 1995 (No. 176) as well as the Code of Practice for open pit mines that could be important inputs to the OSH training manual and plan. The project should determine whether ILO’s SECTOR and LABADMIN/OSH could support the team that will be working on the OSH training manual and plan.
