comments:
To note that when 'Country Office' is selected in this recommendation and all others, what is meant is the ILO Iraq project office headed by the Country Coordinator. This is not a formally established ILO office but part of ROAS
action_plan:
In general, ILO SIYB, FE and KAB are generic and require localization/adaptation to different contexts around the world where the ILO operates. The ILO has tried its best to adapt SIYB and FE materials to the local context and translate them into local languages in Iraq though this GIZ-funded project as well as the Prospects project. However, according to the recommendation of the final evaluation of this project, it still seems that the materials require further enhancement in terms of contextualizing the materials through using examples from the local context which can boost understanding and using local names in the materials to make them more palatable for the trainees. The ILO, through its existing similar projects in Iraq and those that are under in the pipeline, will further analyse the need for improving the translation of the materials in Kurdish and will act accordingly to ensure the sustainability of these training packages.

title:
Recommendation 1. Enhance the contextualisation of the SIYB, FE and KAB training materials through improvement in the translation and the use of examples from the local context Though the SIYB and KAB materials were adapted to the local context and translated into Sorani, Bedhini and Arabic, trainers and beneficiaries met by the evaluation team provided feedback on the materials in terms of translation and contextualization. There is a need to improve the translation in the Kurdish version. Additionally, more contextualization is required with regard to the use of examples from the local context as several examples were not understood. The use Kurdish instead of English names is also advisable.
