- The new project mainstreamed the gender and inclusion in the project design.
The national Reintegration Policy already mainstreamed gender equality elements into all reintegration assistance for migrants and empowered women and vulnerable returnee and people with special needs through gender responsive and need based interventions.
In addition, ILO is contemplating the development of new project document on skills development with a special focus on mainstreaming gender and prioritizing women employment in skilled sector. It was one of the priority requests received from the Government of Bangladesh.
ILO will also develop a leadership programme to build women’s agency enhancing their active participation in climate resilient livelihood interventions, including access to natural resources, finance, and technology enabled solutions.

- 2. Mainstream gender and inclusion in the project design: Women tend to migrate for sectors such as domestic work, care work, and garment work, and re highly vulnerable to exploitation, forced labour and trafficking. Women migrant workers have special needs in all three phases, pre-departure, while on migration, and on return. Future projects need to consider women’s needs and perspectives, mainstream gender in current policies and implementation mechanisms, and include affirmative measures. Similarly, particular attention needs to be paid to people with disability (PWD) and other marginalized groups too.
