- "To drive the WRC towards self-sustainability and resilience, a new Implementation Agreement (IA) is in the process of been concluded between the ILO and WRC. This collaboration aspires to accomplish key milestones that include:
1. Empowering young and female trade union leaders: The agreement aims to elevate awareness and knowledge amongst young and female leaders within trade unions, focusing on nuances of industrial relations, management, leadership proficiency, and inclusion of gender-related matters.
2. Enhancing capacity and awareness of union members and leaders: The objective is to augment the understanding and capability of young and female trade union members and leaders regarding the roles of trade unions, leadership dynamics, and influencing the agenda.
3. Promoting inclusive participation in policy dialogues: The collaboration seeks to amplify the involvement and contributions of trade unions, especially from women and youth, in platforms designated for policy discussions and dialogues.
To operationalize these goals, the LAWC cluster will collaborate with the existing 29 WRC paralegal pools and endeavour to cultivate an additional pool of 25 paralegals, ensuring a 40% female representation. This renewed support also envisages the establishment of a labour rights-centric platform for domestic workers within the WRC framework.
Furthermore, the WRC Women Committee will receive support in structuring anti-harassment committees and strengthening their activities aimed at mitigating violence and harassment in the professional environment. This initiative will span at least 50 unionized enterprises across diverse sectors, focusing on refining the Sustainability Strategy (2021-2026) of WRC to address and prevent harassment effectively."
