FAIRWAY’s engagement with migrant workers, including men and women migrant domestic workers in Saudi Arabia depends on the willingness of the government to engage with the ILO on these issues. To date, the government has not formally requested ILO support in this area, but this may change in light of ongoing discussions. With respect to a gender equality strategy to address the needs of women domestic workers, such a strategy has been developed for Kuwait and is part ROAS’ broader advocacy around ensuring equal rights and treatment of women domestic workers vis-à-vis all other workers (in both law and practice).
