In addition to sensitising project partners to collect and report data with gender focus as well as our reporting to donors including this gender element, ILO’s Social Finance has also supported projects focused on insurance for women. Our projects targeting insurance for women and a related community of practice seeks to provide advice and guidance to selected organisations from the insurance industry (predominantly insurance companies, intermediaries and fintechs) on exploring opportunities for growth through the women’s market. Further, it fosters learning and knowledge sharing among different industry stakeholders wishing to invest in the women’s market.

Recommendation 2: Expand gender and youth-responsive insurance products Future interventions should design products tailored to women, youth, and PWDs, ensuring outreach strategies and monitoring systems disaggregate data by sex, age, and disability. Lessons from successful livestock and cooperative-based products should be replicated while developing urban-oriented schemes for youth.
